CHANGES TO THE AUSTRALIAN SENIORS NATIONAL SINGLES RANKING SYSTEM

At the recent Presidents Meeting held in Adelaide in June 2007, it was decided to expand the Australian Ranking system to include all overseas ITF Seniors tournament results including the World Championships, plus the Tennis Australia Open ranking points.  It was also decided to calculate the rankings on a players best 4 results.

Players MUST notify the National Singles Ranking Coordinator Gail Bates when they compete in an ITF International Seniors Tournament for their points to be added to the Australian Seniors Singles Ranking System.

CRITERIA – updated August, 2007.

·         Calculated on a 12 month rolling system with quarterly updates in February, May, August & November.

·         The system will include all Australian players who compete in ITF and State Seniors Tournaments in Australia plus a selected number of State/Division Tournaments endorsed by the TSA Executive.

·         Included also will be International ITF Seniors tournaments including the World Championships, plus Tennis Australia Open tournaments.

·         Points gained in International ITF Seniors tournaments will be recorded exactly as ITF award points.

·         Points gained in Tennis Australia Open tournaments will be recorded as one result and a players total points will be divided by the number of tournments played.

·         A Players ranking will be calculated on their Best 4 Results.

·         In Seniors tournaments played in Australia, points will be awarded to all rounds, irrespective of the

number of players in the event.

·         A player must physically win a match to receive Ranking Points.

·         Byes and walkovers are not considered as winning a match.

·         First match losers will receive Participation Points allocated on a sliding scale to the Grade of the tournament. (see scale below)

·         Players who enter an event but withdraw due to injury/illness etc. will be allocated 0 points and will be recorded as one tournament entered.

·         Points will be awarded to a player in his/her current age group, irrespective of which age group the points were gained.

·         When a player moves into the next age group his/her points from the previous will move with them.

·         When a player competes in two singles events at the same tournament, this will be recorded as two separate results.

·         The TSA Points System will follow along the same lines as the ITF points system, however it will be extended to all rounds of the event for tournaments played in Australia.

·        Round Robin tournaments – players will be awarded 5 points per win.
