The Vic Seniors ran out comfortable winners in the “Brian Bermingham Shield” which is contested between Victoria and New South Wales.
In the “Pat and Max Phillips Trophy” played between Victoria and South Australia the Vics over- ran the crow eaters but only due to the dominance of the Victorian ladies.
Well done to all who represented Victoria especially the girls.
The Centre Court Indoor Geelong
was the venue for the September social tournament attended by 40
players.

Victorian Seniors Teams Victorious In the National Championships in NZ
After winning the National Teams Championships in Queensland in 2004 the Victorian teams have bobbed up again and won the title at this years Teams Championships held in Christchurch NZ.

Teams Events
This year for the first time the National Championships were not played during January.
Whether this was a progressive step or not depends on whom you talk to. Some players appreciated not having to contend with the mid summer heat whilst others were strongly opposed to having to complete their matches under lights due to the reduced daylight hours available in April.
In any event the NSW vets are to be congratulated on running a successful championship and the organising committee can be well pleased with their efforts.
Sadly, Vic Vets who won the team’s event in 2004 could not make it back to back titles but if you disregard the visiting Kiwis we came in a creditable second position.
