Magical Figures for Kerry Ballard

The latest ITF Seniors World Rankings has Kerry ranked No 1 in singles, doubles and mixed in the 70s age group. A remarkable achievement. These numbers are well deserved after a successful 2018 year and topped off with wins in the singles, doubles and mixed at the recently completed Australian Championships in Shepparton. Kerry was also inducted into the Australian Seniors Tennis Hall of Fame. Congratulations Kerry.

 

Welcome event at Oceania Tournament

TSA invite all participants at the upcoming Oceania Tennis Tournament to a cocktail function to be held on Friday 8 March between 6 pm and 7.30 pm at Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club. This function is open to all players, volunteers and their partners. It is being offered free of charge by Tennis Seniors Australia as a way for the Executive to show itís appreciation to the players participating in the tournament and to the great work being done by the many volunteers.

Shepparton 2019 a great success

Former Tennis Seniors Australia Secretary and Life Member Tom Hancy was so impressed with the two weeks of tennis at the Australian Championships in Shepparton, he was moved to pen a letter of congratulations to the organisers of the event. His well chosen words would be well supported by all those who attended.

Hall of Fame members honored at Teams Carnival Dinner

The Australia Seniors Tennis Players Hall of Fame was launched at our Teams Carnival Dinner held on Friday 11th January 2019 in Shepparton.  Several of the initial 12 inductees were present including our first "legend" Carol Campling who had amassed a total of 20 ITF World Titles and 56 Australian Titles. It was a joyous occasion to recognise those among us who have shown the talent and tenacity to win so many ITF World and Australian Seniors tennis titles.

Three new life members of Tennis Seniors Australia

At the recent TSA AGM, three icons of Tennis Seniors were deservedly awarded honorary life membership of the organisation. Enid Besant Ryan, Gail Bates and Robyn Castle were all recognised at the Annual Teams Carnival dinner for their long standing efforts.

At the recent Annual Teams Carnival Dinner, the Player of the Year for 2018 was awarded to Ros Balodis (ACT).  The Administrator of the Year for 2018 was awarded to Peter Breugelmans (ACT). The Player Recognition Award for 2018 was awarded to Joy Rigter (Qld).

 

Queensland win the 2019 Teams Trophy

Teams Trophy

Queensland have won the Australian Seniors Carnival Teams Trophy by the narrowest of margins from South Australia. It is the second year in a row for Queensland.

Australian Teams Nomination Requirements

TSA has revised the Australian Teams Nomination Form and it has been uploaded onto 92 Computing. When nominating for the 2019 Australian Representative Teams nominees are advised to read the requirements and fully understand the commitment they are undertaking . Failure to comply with these requirements may effect selection in future Australian Representative Teams.

Peter Froelich awarded Most Outstanding 35+ Tennis Senior

The Executive of TSA is pleased to congratulate our Treasurer, Peter Froelich, on winning the Newcombe award for 2018 as the most outstanding 35+ tennis senior. Apart from doing a terrific job as treasurer for the last seven years and organising the Oceanic Region tournament at Kooyong since its inception, Peter has represented Australia 21 times, including acting as Captain on 9 occasions. He has won 9 individual World titles and has won the Australian Seniors Singles 15 times.

Oceania Regional Championships 2019

Entries are now open for the 2019 Oceania Regional Championships. It is the most prestigious seniors tennis event on the Oceania calendar with ranking points second only to the World Championships. It will be held March 7-11, 2019 (Victorian Labour Day weekend) on Melbourne clay courts. The main venue is the iconic Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club, the major sponsor of the tournament.
