Twilight Competition
2011-12 TWILIGHT
The 2011-12 Twilight Doubles Competition commenced on 24 October 2011 with 8 teams in one division. There will be 14 rounds (no play between round 9 on 19 December 2011 and round 10 on 6 February 2012) with the finals on 19 March 2012. The final of the 2010-11 Twilight Doubles Competition was played on 28 March
following the wash out on 21 March. In a closely
fought match Mark Spain's team reversed the last round
defeat by Neil Richardson's team to win the final by 5 sets
to 3. Mark Spain and Tom Howe got their team off to a
good start by winning both sets against Neil Richardson and
David Coutts. The second pairs of John Mapley and John
Chaloner and Roy Blinston and Zoltan Lukacs were very
even sharing sets. However this gave Mark Spain's team
a 3-1 lead at the change over. Mark and Tom were too
strong for Roy and Zoltan winning both sets to give their
side victory. The two Johns lost both sets to Neil and
David, although pushing them to a tie break in the first
set. The winning team is pictured above with their
spoils, from left to right, John Mapley, Tom Howe, Mark
