Margaret
Bartlett

1922 - 14 August 2011
Margaret, the
wife of one of our original members, Graham Bartlett, passed
away on 14 August 2011, aged 89. Although not a member
herself, Margaret actively supported Graham in all his
tennis activities and until recently regularly attended
tennis functions with Graham.
At the 80th
Birthday Dinner for Graham in 2003, it was noted that on the
Easter Monday evening after the ACT Open Championships,
Graham and Margaret were renowned for generously hosting a
dinner for interstate and local friends.
Jose Buchtmann

October 1922 - 17 August 2011
Jose Buchtmann
passed away on 17 August 2011 at the age of 88. Jose was a
member of Tennis Seniors ACT until the early 1990’s. She
represented the ACT at the Australian Teams Carnivals until
the late 1980’s, normally in a team with Jean Boag, Norma
Crawley and Jean Manning.
Peter Cannon
3 June 1920 - 25 May 2011
Another former member of Tennis Seniors ACT, Peter Cannon
passed away on 25 May aged 90. Peter was an active
participant in tennis in the ACT. His funeral was held
on Monday 30 May at St Michael's Catholic Church, Kaleen.
Arthur Brown
21 February 1917 - 21 May 2011
One of the
original members of Tennis Seniors ACT, Arthur Brown passed
away on 21 May at the age of 94. Arthur attended the
meeting at Manuka Pavilion on 8 May 1970 at which the first
committee was elected. .He was a committee member in the
early years and had been a member of Tennis Seniors ACT
since that date. He played in the Australian teams event in
Canberra in 1976 in the 55 mens. His funeral was held
on Friday 27 May at St Andrews Presbyterian Church,
Forrest.
Ken Sharp
28 February 1917 - 28 June 2010
Ken
was a long standing member and supporter of Tennis Seniors
ACT, having contributed to tennis in the ACT for many years.
He organised social tennis and the Thursday tournaments at
the National Sports Club for over 20 years and only gave it
away last year following a fall. The Ken Sharp Cup awarded
to the player with the best 7 results in Thursday
tournaments will remind players of Ken's dedication.
Ken regularly contributed to Vetset keeping us up to date
with news on the tournaments.
There was a Requiem Mass for Ken at St Brigid's
Catholic Church, Dickson on Monday 6 July with a get together afterwards at his
son's house in Barton. Chris Norwood spoke about Ken's
