Congratulations to Narelle Raftery, Ros Balodis and Colin Holgate on being selected in Australian teams for the ITF World Seniors Team Championships in February 2012 in San Diego.  Narelle has been selected in the Margaret Court Cup team (45+) while Ros has been selected as captain of the Maria Bueno Cup (50+) team.  Colin is the reserve for the Austria Cup (55+) team.  The full list of the Australian teams can be found at www.tennisseniors.org.au.

 

The annual Tennis ACT awards night was held at the National Sports Club in Lyneham on Saturday 24 September in celebration of tennis in the Nation’s Capital.  The night showcased the players, coaches and volunteers within the ACT, with over 80 people in attendance.  Among the winners were two of our members, Narelle Raftery with the 35+ Senior Player of the Year award and Tim Harris, a mainstay in the Weston Creek Pennant team, the Adult Club Player of the Year.

The first Sunday round robin tournament for 2012 will be held at 9.15 for 9.30am on 19 February 2012 - venue to be advised.  There will be the usual prizes for the winners and runners-up.   The cost will be $10.00 under the new user pays policy of the pilot study.   To put your name down, ring Colin Lyons on 6213 6353(w) or 6254 4853(h) or email colin.lyons@innovation.gov.au or ring Mary Gormly on 6281 3278.  If you put your name down and find you cannot play on the day, please notify one of the organisers so that the others players are not inconvenienced.
