Congratulation to Ros Balodis on her selection as captain of the Australian Alice Marble Cup (W60) team to play in the Senior World Titles in Florida, USA at the end of April. However the World Titles have been postponed until later in the year due to the Coronavirus,

 

The Sunday round robin tournaments are cancelled until further notice due to the Coronavirus,   We will resume with the scheduled dates in VetSet and the calendar once we are able to get back onto the courts.   more... 

 

The ACT Open Seniors Tournament programmed for Easter (10-13 April 2020) has been cancelled due to the Coronavirus.  This followed advice from Tennis Australia and the International Tennis Federation (ITF).

 

Unfortunately this celebration has had  to be postponed due to the Coronaviris. We hope to be able to hold it later in the year so watch this space for more news.  Join us for the big celebration dinner on 2 May 2020 7pm for 7.30pm at the Yowani Country Club.  TSACT was born on 6 May 1970 so we will be celebrating our 50th anniversary.  Add to this our recognition of members having an 80th birthday in 2020 it makes it a night not to be missed. If you see or know any former members, invite them along.  The more the merrier.     more...

 

December and January sadly saw the passing of 4 of our former members and spouses.  Peter Macnicol, a former member died on 27 December 2019 aged 89.  Peter was the husband of long term member and former Treasurer, Pat Macnicol.    Brian Hurley, a former long term member died on 14 January aged 94.  Brian was still playing at national and international levels in his 80ís.   Christine Fraser died on 27 January aged 58.  Chris was an active member of both the open and seniors tennis community.  Shirley Thornton died on 30 January aged 91.  Shirley was the wife for 70 years of Bob Thornton who was the inaugural president and a life member of Tennis Seniors ACT.  Shirley strongly supported Bob and was always seen at functions with Bob.  Our condolences go to all the families.  Tributes to Brian and Christine can be found in the        'tributes' page in ' news.'

 

The 2021 Australian Seniors Team Carnival and Individual Championships will be held in Canberra with the Team Carnival from 17-22 January and the Individual Championships from 24-29 January.   more...(http://www.tennisseniors.org.au/pdfs/2020/2020_01_aus_champs_flyer.pdf)

 

The 2020 Australian Seniors Team Carnival and Individual Championships were hosted by TSWA from 5-17 January at Busselton and Bunbury Tennis Courts. Congratulations to the ACT women's 55 and men's 65 teams on winning their sections of the Teams Carnival. Congratulations to Pat Moloney on being named the Most Outstanding Tennis Senior 35+ at the Tennis Australia Awards and Newcombe Medal  Presentation held in Melbourne on 2 December.  Pat was nominated for the Australian Award after receiving the Tennis ACT Award as the 2019 Most Outstanding Tennis Senior 35+ on 14 September.
