Don't forget to get your entry in for the 49th ACT Seniors Tennis Tournament held over Easter (19-22 April)  There are events for IPIN and non IPIN players.  For more information go to 92computing.com.au.  Entries for IPIN events close Tuesday 9 April while entries for  non-IPIN close Monday 15 April.  It would be great to see our members support our local tournament.

 

The next Sunday round robin tournament for 2019 is scheduled for 19 May at Weston Creek Tennis Club.  Start accumulating points for the Venezuela Cups.     more... 

 

Congratulations to Ros Balodis and Narelle Raftery on being selected as captain of their Australian teams for the World Titles in Portugal in Portugal,  Ros is captain of the Alice Marble Cup (60+) team and Narelle the Muareen Connelly (55+) Cup. 

 

Get your names down for Charity Day on 2 May 2019. Help the mid-week ladies raise funds for the charity this year Parkinson's ACT. For more information, click here.

 

During February we lost two of our former members Ken Wells and Betty JenningsKen passed away peacefully on 8 February aged 74.  A celebration of Ken’s life was held on 18 February at the Yacht Club. Betty died on the night of 26 February,  Betty’s funeral was held on Monday 4 March.  Our condolences go to their families.

 

The 2019 Australian Seniors Team Carnival was held in Shepparton from 6-12 January and Individual Championships were played the next week. The Annual TSA Awards for 2018 were announced at the Carnival Dinner/Dance held on the Friday evening   ACT was well represented in these awards with Ros Balodis again awarded the Player of the Year and  Peter Breugelmans the Administrator of the Year.  Congratulations to Ros and Peter. More on the Team Carnival and the Individual Championships..

 

The Australia Seniors Tennis Players Hall of Fame was launched at our Teams Carnival Dinner held on Friday 11 January 2019 in Shepparton.  Several of the initial 12 inductees were present including our first "legend" Carol Campling who had amassed a total of 20 ITF World Titles and 56 Australian Titles. Ros Balodis was honoured at the elite level.  It was a joyous occasion to recognise those among us who have shown the talent and tenacity to win so many ITF World and Australian Seniors Tennis Title     more 

 

The 2020 Australian Seniors Team Carnival and Individual Championships will be hosted by TSWA from 5-17 January at Busselton and Bunbury Tennis Courts. For more information go to

Membership fees were due on 1 July for 2018/19.  The membership fee is $20.  However a pro rata rate of $10 applies for new members from 1 January 2019.  more..
